No matter it was only a week of leisurely holidays or a few month, it can be a real challenge for parents to back them into a "school" mode. With a new school term ahead, it is very important that kids start motivated and refreshed. We all know how difficult it is for parents to get back into the "work mode", so why it’s suppose to be easy process for children? No, it’s definitely not an easy thing for kids. Fortunately, the following advices can help parents ease the process of back into the "school" mode and make it more enjoyable.
First of all, it is necessary to re-establish kids’ bedtime. If the child has enough sleep, he or she will get on time much easier. It is advisable to re-establish evening routine and bedtime a few days before the school starts.
Morning schedule also should be changed. Parents should start waking their kids at a regular school-day time a several days before start of the new school year or the term.
It would be great to set a visual routine-chart. Kids should back into the habit of getting ready and eating breakfast before they go to play.
Cut back the amount of time the kids spend watching TV and playing computer games. By switching off their computers, kids are forced to find more constructive and less passive ways of spending their free time.
Sorting things necessary for the school together with kids, parents may find out that it helps them talk both about negative and positive feelings their kids have about school.
And finally, positive and calm talking about kids’ feelings, concerns and expectations for the school should become a part of everyday conversation. Hei, it’s time to come back from crazy lazy Christmas days!
